Nana Kwaku Okyere Duah, better known as TiC, hails from Kwamo in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. He has gained significant popularity in the music industry.

EARLY LIFE

TiC began his music journey in 1997 as a member of the group ‘Natty Strangers,’ alongside his close friend Bessem Bikhazi, also known as Cold Sweat.

Their dynamic performances quickly captured the attention of audiences in Ghana, earning them recognition at events such as Kidafest, Fun World, and Source, among others.

After Bessem moved to the UK for pilot training, TiC released a self-produced album inspired by his admiration for Busta Rhymes. Bessem, now a licensed pilot, currently manages TiC’s career.

CAREER

TiC’s influence in music expanded with his feature on Azigiza’s hit track “Woye Bia,” which became popular in Ghana.

Collaborations with Slim Busterr and Daasebre Gyamenah further established his foothold in the industry.

In 1999, TiC independently released his debut solo album, Philomena, which produced several hits.

He made a significant impact with his hit single “Menka Bio (Shordy)” from his third album, Masem, which topped the Ghana music charts for an impressive 22 weeks from 2002 to 2003, setting a new record.

The release of his fourth album, Wope, also made waves in Ghana, achieving widespread success.

Wope distinguished itself in the hiplife genre through remarkable collaborations with international artists, including Freddy Meiway from Côte d’Ivoire on the title track and Nigeria’s Tony Tetuila on “Fefe n’efe,” which pays homage to Fela Kuti.

TiC continued to push boundaries with his fifth album, *Accra Connection*, featuring talents like Sway DaSafo, Rhian Benson, D’Banj, and JJC.

His 2006 hit “Kangaroo” was accompanied by a visually striking video directed by Gil Green, which topped the MTV Base Africa charts.

In 2018, TiC made a notable return with the single “Kwani Kwani (Part 2),” featuring the talented Ghanaian artist Kuami Eugene.

This track gained traction and solidified TiC’s standing in the music scene.

Beyond his successful music career, TiC has performed alongside renowned artists such as 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Kanda Bongo Man, and Buju Banton.

One of his most popular songs, the “Kwani Kwani (Remix)” featuring Kuami Eugene, has become a favorite among fans.

During the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations, the Ghanaian national football team adopted this song and its accompanying dance to celebrate their goals.

Additionally, TiC co-wrote the song “Gbese,” performed by the famous artist Wizkid.
